Community

The community projects encourage social responsibility and awareness whilst empowering students to engage in, and make a positive contribution to, the local community.

All students participate and contribute to projects beyond Wargrave House School using the skills developed in other areas of the curriculum.

At Wargrave Primary School (local mainstream school) students have repaired fencing and redeveloped a plot of land for cultivation in readiness for a joint fresh produce planting project between Lakeside students and the primary school pupils.

We have a long-standing relationship with Emmanuel Church which is within walking distance of Lakeside. Students work hard to manage the growth of weeds, lopping trees, clearing litter and general grounds maintenance. Students develop an awareness of keeping the environment tidy and the benefits to the local community through the positive feedback and affirmation of the vicar and her congregation.

“Community project has been interesting learning about the environment” … Robert B

“You do lots of energetic things, such as trimming trees and digging” … Chris A

“I learned how to paint fencing and the pupils said they liked it” … Neil S
