Based on the principle of ‘Learning by Doing’, students at Lakeside participate in the Young Enterprise programme. Young Enterprise is aimed at developing enterprise and financial capability as well as promoting general business and economic understanding.
Each year, with the support of an external business advisor, students establish a new company to compete in the regional Young Enterprise competition.
Students have a specific role in the company such as Managing Director, Financial Director, Sales and Marketing or Production. Working together, the students ensure their company achieves its financial potential.
The business year concludes with a presentation of the company report to other participating schools and a panel of judges in the St Helens & Halton regional event.
Over the years, students’ efforts have been recognised with the following awards.
The YE Team Award – ‘Mr McGregors Garden’ 2006
Best Team Programme – ‘Cards 4 U’ 2007
Salesperson of the Year – ‘Chris A’ 2007
