Residential Visits

Each year students at Lakeside look forward to the ‘Lakeside Residential’, a comprehensive programme of activities run over 3 days. This experience provides students with a unique opportunity to participate in outdoor and adventurous activities, educational visits and the challenge of staying away from home – often the first time for many of our students.

Students are active participants in the preparation for each trip. They are encouraged to develop their planning and problem solving skills with a strong emphasis on opportunities for communication, social interaction and developing skills towards independence.

The students take part in a comprehensive range of challenging but fun outdoor pursuits including fell walking, canoeing, high ropes, raft building, rock climbing and abseiling. Balanced with visits to places of local interest, shopping for gifts and meals out, these experiences proved to be one of the most popular and memorable elements of the Lakeside programme.
"The ‘leap of faith’ was a real challenge" … Chris

"The activities we did were adventurous" … Adam

"I stayed away from home with my friends" … Kate
