05 Oct Makaton added to our Total Communication

Here at Wargrave House we are excited to announce that we will be adding Makaton to our Total Communication Approach to support our young people’s expressive and receptive communication. With Makaton, signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order.

This helps provide extra clues about what someone is saying. Using signs can help people who have no speech or whose speech is unclear, or who have difficulty finding their words.

Each week we will have a sign of the week – our first sing “hello” is demonstrated by our superstar Ben in the video below.
